Message from the Headteacher

It was an exciting start to the week as we gathered as a whole school to capture pictures to mark our 10 year anniversary. Students were very excited as we participated in our ‘drone shoot’ and following this morning activity, every student and teacher enjoyed a special edition cupcake! Later in the day, students were also given 10 year anniversary bags.

As part of this special celebratory year for HHIS, a new ECA has also started with students across the school working together with Ms Laura and Mr Lewis to design the first ever HHIS Yearbook. It was a great opening session on Monday afternoon with students discussing the theme, design concept and initial ideas for key features. This student-led publication will celebrate the 10 year anniversary for our school and next week the student team will share a feedback form with students, families and staff to gain ideas for page content. There will also be a competition for all students to participate in so they can design the front cover - we want everyone to contribute and make their mark!

The Yearbook will be published in June this year and families will be able to order copies. More details for this will be shared in due course.

Air Quality

At this time of year we monitor the AQI reading closely using the monitor we have at school. You can see the live reading on our website here.

HHIS Air Quality

We have a clear policy in line with World Health Organisation guidelines, and the Thai authorities. All our classrooms have air purifiers in them, which are on throughout the day.

Building update

The building project for the multi-purpose hall has been delayed for various reasons, but I am now delighted to report that we have workers back on site and work is back underway. I will give updates to the community as the project progresses.

Year 3 Finding Out Activity

Our students in Year 3 were delighted to meet Mr Chris and Ms Jade as guest speakers for their new topic - ‘Natural Disasters’. Mr Chris and Ms Jade are Geography specialists in the Secondary School and in preparation for meeting them, Year 3 students prepared questions so they could discover more for their inquiry based project. Year 3 students were very excited to gain insight, share valuable discussion and learn new geographical concepts from their guest speakers. The activity was recorded and will be shared on their Google Classroom to enrich their research as their projects evolve this term.

Year 9 Trip to Ayutthaya

The sign of a successful trip is not wanting to return! Our Y9 students had the very best of experiences visiting Ayutthaya and seeing so many stunning sites. Bang Pa In Palace was an inspiring highlight and students also enjoyed exploring Wat Mahathat and taking a relaxing cruise along Chao Phraya River.

The activities and experiences at Ban Kong Por Sufficiency Economy Learning Centre and Ban Bang Sadet Village were also fantastic learning opportunities, seeing traditional dance and learning more about Thai history, enterprise and innovative solutions.

Everyone has gained many great memories, enjoying Thai culture, delicious cuisine, singing on the bus, shopping with friends, wonderful dancing and even a birthday cake!

Well done Year 9 and thank you to our teachers for leading this memorable trip.

Year 5 Field Trip: Sustainable Buildings

As part of our Unit of Inquiry on sustainable buildings, Year 5 visited Baan Phu Tara, a modern sustainable villa, and a traditional Thai house. The visit allowed students to explore how different building designs respond to the local environment.

At Baan Phu Tara, students observed how modern technology and design can support energy efficiency and sustainable living. In contrast, the traditional Thai house demonstrated how natural materials, airflow and raised structures have long been used to stay cool and suit the climate.

The children were highly engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, asking thoughtful questions and making meaningful connections to their learning.

KS2 Family Workshop - Supporting our Children in Navigating a Digital World

We had an excellent turnout at our recent KS2 Family workshop, with over 35 parents attending. It was a valuable opportunity to reflect together on how children experience life online and how school and home can work in partnership.

The session shared KS2 pupil voice, highlighting that children understand the need for online safety and routines, value trust and fairness, and want adults to show interest in their digital lives. We explored the positives and challenges of the online world, emphasising that children are still learning self-control and benefit from calm, consistent adult support.

A key message was that children don’t need perfect digital parenting – they need available adults and clear routines. By aiming for curiosity rather than control, and sharing consistent messages between home and school, we can better support children’s digital wellbeing.

Thank you to all families for your engagement and ongoing partnership.

Creative Writing Competition - congratulations to Mia and Jasmine!

Well done to all the intrepid students who entered our in-house short story competition on ‘Being Human’. The entries were submitted at the end of Term 1 and all the work was imaginative, thoughtful, and inspiring. We now wish to share special congratulations to our KS3 winner Mia Muench, and our KS4/5 winner Jasmine Adhikary, who will both go on to represent HHIS in the South East Asia FOBISIA competition - this is a great achievement and we wish them the very best of luck! Thank you, Ms Barbara.
